Tableau – Carré Hermès Axis Mundi

This painting is a wall decoration rich in details. The source of inspiration for the drawings are tales and legends from around the world, mythology and also the symbolism linked to the representation of animals and plants in different civilizations, ancient or recent. The central element, the axis around which the world revolves, is represented by the oak, king of trees, whose sap rises like a song from the earth to which the murmur of the winds responds. Around him is the round of the seasons: spring with lyre accents, summer with a thousand buzzing suns, autumn heavy with all its abundance and winter which strips itself under the control of Janus, god with two faces, one of which looks towards the future where the promise of renewal shimmers.

Designer Christine Henry

After obtaining a degree in Fine Arts and taking courses in rough, Christine Henry produced illustrations for the press, then for book publishers in various fields. Attracted by computer work, she followed a professional training to become a PAO/DAO model maker. This activity, exercised for four years, allowed him to create logos, advertisements for merchants and companies, and create book layouts. Despite the diversity of this activity, he missed the exercise of traditional drawing and painting. For two years Christine Henry prepared an exhibition which brought together tempera painting on wood, drawings in colored ink or with dry pastels on paper.

Following this exhibition and after having contacted the Hermès company in Paris, the artist has been working freelance for this company since 1995, creating designs for silk squares, for the decoration of ashtrays and empty-pockets, as well as designs for enamel bracelets. His sources of inspiration are mainly tales and legends from around the world, Mythology and also the symbolism linked to the representation of animals and plants in different civilizations, ancient or recent.
